ESTABLISHMENT
On July 11, 2025, leaders representing a wide range of Christian ministries and denominations from coast to coast gathered in our nation’s capital to establish an annual National Day of Prayer for Canada.
The gathering included a solemn assembly and the presentation of a declaration, which was formally signed by those in attendance. It was a moving expression of unity, humility, and heartfelt love for the purposes of God in our nation.
The second annual National Day of Prayer in the nation’s capital will take place July 9–11, 2026.
Events will include prayer workshops, a gala dinner, a leaders’ gathering, and an outdoor worship and prayer gathering. This year’s National Day of Prayer is also partnering with the March for Jesus, which will take place on the morning of July 11.
BROADER HISTORY
The establishment of a national day of prayer in Canada represents the next step in a broader national prayer movement that has been growing across our country for several decades.
This movement has taken many forms over the years, yet it has carried a shared heartbeat: to gather believers from sea to sea in the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Over the decades, the hallmarks of this movement have included unity across leaders, generations, and regions; repentance; worship; communion; and a deep reverence for the Word of God. It is not driven by any single denomination, but rather represents a coalition of many expressions of the body of Christ throughout Canada.
At present, the movement is being administratively served by TheCry Canada, with guidance from a national steering team of respected leaders from across the country who serve in an advisory capacity. Their role is to help ensure that the spirit and vision of 2 Chronicles 7:14 remain central.
The hope is that this annual gathering will become a lasting legacy—an inheritance passed on to future generations. At its heart is the conviction that one of the most important ways the faith community in Canada can serve our nation in this generation is by caring for our country in prayer.
Following is a list of Christian Ministries from across Canada who participated in the Inaguration of the National Day of Prayer in 2025, adding their agreement in prinicple and/or presence.
