Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

If you have a Donor Advised Fund, you can recommend a grant to the National Day of Prayer directly from your fund. It’s a simple, tax-smart way to support a movement calling Canadians to humble themselves and pray, using money you’ve already set aside for giving.

To recommend a grant, contact your DAF sponsor (such as your community foundation, financial institution, or charitable gift fund) and provide the following:

Gifts of Publicly Traded Stocks and Securities

Giving publicly traded securities, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or ETFs, is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give in Canada. When you donate securities directly to a registered charity instead of selling them first, you generally pay no capital gains tax on their increase in value. You also receive a donation receipt for the full fair market value of the gift on the day it transfers. That can mean a larger gift for the National Day of Prayer and a larger tax benefit for you.

It’s a meaningful way to turn investments you’ve held for years into prayer, unity, and gatherings for our nation. To arrange a gift of securities, please contact us at info@nationaldayofprayer.ca before initiating the transfer. We’ll provide the brokerage transfer details, designate your gift to the National Day of Prayer, and make sure it is properly receipted by TheCry Canada (charity #828372615 RR0001), based on the value of the securities on the day they reach our account.

Legacy Giving: Leave a Gift in Your Estate

The National Day of Prayer is a call to seek God “throughout every generation.” A legacy gift is a way to make sure that call is still being answered long after we’re gone. By remembering this ministry in your estate plans, you help ensure that Canadians will keep gathering in humility and prayer for our nation.

There are several simple ways to leave a legacy:

A gift in your will (a bequest). You can leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or whatever remains after other gifts are made.
Registered accounts. You can name TheCry Canada as a beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF, or TFSA.
Life insurance. You can name TheCry Canada as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or donate a policy you no longer need.
Securities from your estate. Publicly traded securities can be directed to a charity at death, which may significantly reduce the taxes owing on your estate.

A charitable gift in your estate may also generate a donation tax credit that can help reduce taxes owing on your final return and your estate. A legacy gift costs you nothing during your lifetime. It can express your faith and love for Canada for generations to come.
