Ottawa Tourist Options (Near Parliament Hill)

 

Here are some great things to do within walking distance or a short drive of Parliament.
 

Parliament Hill | Tours

There are several excellent free tours, but it's wise to reserve tickets in advance.

House of Commons (West Block) – Approximately 40 minutes. You'll see the spectacular temporary House of Commons chamber beneath its impressive glass roof and learn how Parliament functions today.

Senate of Canada Building – Tour the beautifully restored former train station that now serves as the temporary Senate chamber.

East Block – Available during the summer months. This tour explores restored heritage offices used by Canada's early prime ministers and gives a glimpse into 19th-century parliamentary life.

Parliament: The Immersive Experience – A multimedia exhibit that virtually brings Centre Block to life while it's closed for restoration.

Rideau Canal | Scenic

 

5–7 Minute Walk From Parliament | Free | No Website

 

Rideau Canal is one of Canada's most iconic landmarks and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stretching through the heart of downtown Ottawa, the historic canal offers beautiful walking and cycling paths, scenic boat cruises in the summer, and transforms into the world's largest naturally frozen skating rink in the winter. Major’s Hill Park | Scenic

Major's Hill Park is one of Ottawa's most beautiful and historic green spaces, located between Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and the National Gallery of Canada. With its manicured gardens, walking paths, and panoramic views of the Ottawa River and the city's landmark buildings, it is a perfect place to relax, picnic, or enjoy seasonal festivals.
