Ten Days of Awe

A Christian Journey of Reflection, Prayer, and Consecration

Day 1: Returning to God

The Ten Days of Awe invite us to pause, examine our hearts, and return wholeheartedly to God. The Lord does not call us into repentance to condemn us, but to restore us. Through Jesus Christ, we can draw near with confidence, knowing that His mercy is greater than our failures.

Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that has drawn me away from You. I turn from every distraction, compromise, and sin. Wash me, restore me, and awaken within me a fresh desire for Your presence. I surrender myself to You again today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 2: Humbling Ourselves

Humility begins when we recognize that God is God and we are not. His wisdom is perfect, His ways are higher, and His purposes are good. When we humble ourselves before Him, we become teachable, responsive, and ready to receive His grace.

Father, forgive me for pride, self-reliance, and the times I have insisted on my own way. Teach me to walk humbly before You and others. May my confidence rest not in my own strength, but in Your faithfulness and unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 3: A Clean Heart

God desires truth in our innermost being. He invites us to bring hidden attitudes, motives, wounds, and habits into His light. We do not need to conceal anything from Him. As we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Purify my thoughts, intentions, and desires. Remove everything that grieves Your heart, and form the character of Jesus within me. May my private life honour You as much as my public life. Amen.

Day 4: Forgiving Others

During a season of repentance, we must also consider whether we are holding offences against others. Forgiveness does not excuse wrongdoing, but it releases judgment into God’s hands and frees our hearts from bitterness. Because Christ has forgiven us, we can ask for His grace to forgive those who have wounded us.

Jesus, I bring before You every person who has hurt, disappointed, betrayed, or misunderstood me. I choose to release them into Your hands. Heal the places in me that still ache, uproot bitterness, and help me walk in mercy and freedom. As You have forgiven me, empower me to forgive. Amen.

Day 5: Making Things Right

True repentance produces fruit. Sometimes consecration requires more than private prayer; it may call us to apologize, make restitution, or seek reconciliation. We cannot control how others respond, but we can humbly take responsibility for our own words and actions.

Lord, show me if there is anyone I have hurt or treated unjustly. Give me the courage to apologize without defending myself and the humility to make things right wherever possible. Let my life demonstrate sincere repentance and the transforming power of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 6: Consecrating Our Words

Our words reveal what is within our hearts. They can bring healing or harm, unity or division, hope or discouragement. As we consecrate ourselves to God, we must also surrender our tongues and ask the Holy Spirit to govern what we say.

Father, place a guard over my mouth. Forgive me for careless, critical, dishonest, or harmful words. Teach me to speak truth with love and to use my voice to bless, encourage, and strengthen others. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You. Amen.

Day 7: Surrendering Our Plans

It is possible to ask God to bless our plans without first asking whether they are His plans. Consecration means placing our ambitions, relationships, ministries, possessions, and future before Him. Surrender is not loss when we are placing our lives into the hands of a loving Father.

Lord, I surrender my plans, expectations, and desires to You. Close every door that is not from You and give me courage to walk through every door You open. Let Your will be done in my life, even when it differs from my own. I trust Your wisdom, timing, and goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 8: Loving God First

The greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our service for God must never replace our relationship with Him. He desires our affection, attention, obedience, and wholehearted devotion.

Jesus, rekindle my first love for You. Forgive me for allowing other people, pursuits, or concerns to occupy the place that belongs to You alone. Teach me to delight in Your presence, treasure Your Word, and obey You with joy. May You be the highest love and greatest priority of my life. Amen.

Day 9: Praying for Others

Consecration enlarges our hearts beyond our own needs. God calls us to stand in prayer for our families, churches, communities, leaders, and nation. In a divided and hurting world, we are invited to carry the love and compassion of Jesus into every place of need.

Father, make me sensitive to the needs of those around me. Strengthen the weary, comfort those who mourn, heal the broken, and draw those who are far from You into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Bring repentance, healing, righteousness, and unity to Your Church, and have mercy upon our nation. Amen.

Day 10: Fully Belonging to Jesus

The culmination of these days of reflection is not merely a promise to do better—it is a renewed surrender to Jesus. Our hope rests in His finished work upon the cross. He is our righteousness, our Redeemer, and our faithful High Priest. Because of Him, we can receive forgiveness and begin again.

Lord Jesus, my life belongs to You. I offer You my heart, my time, my gifts, my relationships, my resources, and my future. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit and empower me to live in holiness, love, courage, and obedience. May everything I am bring glory to Your name. Amen.
